Our very popular Old House Revival Tour is back again for 2017!
This self-guided tour gives you the opportunity to see inside several Portland area houses, each providing ideas and information on how you can restore spaces lost to previous remodels, create new spaces that are sensitive to the architecture of the home, or preserve original building materials. This year the tour stops are located in SE, SW, NE, and North Portland, including two within a historic district that demonstrate how you can readily update homes to meet your needs and still meet design guidelines. Two homes on the tour this year are associated with noted Portland architects – Joseph Jacobberger and Roscoe Hemenway. There’s also a gorgeous award-winning kitchen renovation!
With the ongoing struggle over old house demolitions, the AHC feels it is vital to demonstrate that older homes can be adapted to a 21st century lifestyle while not losing all of their original style, historic character, and charm.
No matter what style or era of house you prefer, the Old House Revival Tour offers something for everyone. Homes on the tour are representative of many of the most common eras and architectural styles found in the Portland area.
If you are considering taking on a home renovation project yourself, homeowners and contractors will be on hand to provide you with tips on everything from retaining original material to integrating modern appliances.
Not working on a house project? No problem! Even if you just love to see inside older houses this tour is always fascinating, fun, and affordable!
We hope you’ll join us as for this always popular tour – all in the pursuit of our mission to inspire people to conserve the art, craft, and context of historic buildings and places.
Tickets are $35 for the General Public and $22.50 for AHC Members. Join now and instantly qualify for discounted pricing to AHC education programs.
Are you a young preservationist (age 18-25)? If so, this year we're also offering a limited number of $15 tickets.
We're looking forward to another great tour and hope to see you there!
Please note that the homes on tour are private and do not include mobility accommodations. Several of the homes require climbing one or more sets of stairs in order to see all of the spaces open to visitors. No children under 12 are allowed on the tour except babies in the arms of an adult or in a front pack. Children over 12 must be ticketed and closely supervised.
