Description

This tour examines an early boom era in the Sellwood neighborhood that occurred from 1900 - 1930. The history of the area is filled with interesting stories, including the development of Oaks Park and the Olmsted parks plan, a one-time horseracing track, the construction of churches and a community center, and the rise of the 13th Avenue business district. The popular architectural styles of the era provide a backdrop as you explore the rich history of this vibrant community.
